Terms and Conditions
Terms &
conditions.
These terms explain the basic rules for using the CRESA website, participating in its online community, and accessing the information and resources published here. Please read them before using the site.
Acceptance of these terms
By accessing or using the CRESA website, its online pages, forms, resources or other digital services, you agree to follow these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree, please stop using the relevant website feature or service.
These terms apply to website visitors and users of CRESA digital services. Additional rules may apply to membership, specific events, resource submissions, merchandise orders or other activities, and will be provided where relevant.
About CRESA
CRESA refers to the Construction and Real Estate Students Association, a student community connected with the built environment. The website shares information about the association, its chapters, student activities, learning resources, editorial content and opportunities.
Website content is provided for general information. An announcement or page should not be treated as confirmation of a place, membership status, event booking or other arrangement unless CRESA has expressly confirmed it.
Using the website
You agree to use the website lawfully, respectfully and in a way that does not disrupt access for others. You must not attempt to damage, overload, interfere with, or gain unauthorised access to the website, its forms, accounts, data or connected systems.
- Provide accurate information when completing a form or making a request.
- Do not impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation with CRESA.
- Do not upload malicious code, spam, unlawful material or content that infringes another person’s rights.
- Do not scrape, copy or reuse website content in a way that breaches applicable law or these terms.
CRESA may restrict access to a feature where reasonably necessary to protect the website, its users or the association.
Membership and submitted information
Where the website offers membership registration or other forms, you are responsible for submitting complete and accurate information and correcting any material errors through the appropriate CRESA contact channel.
Submitting a form does not, by itself, guarantee acceptance as a member, selection for a role, admission to an event or access to a particular benefit. Any eligibility criteria, approval process, fees or further steps will be communicated through the relevant official process.
Do not submit another person’s personal information unless you are authorised to do so.
Student resources
CRESA may make past papers, lecture notes, e-books, tutorials, links and other learning materials available for educational use. Materials may be submitted by students or obtained from external sources, and availability can change as resources are reviewed or removed.
- Use resources for lawful study, revision and other permitted educational purposes.
- Respect the copyright, licence conditions and attribution requirements attached to each item.
- Do not assume that uploading or displaying a resource means CRESA owns it or endorses every statement in it.
- Do not redistribute restricted materials or use them to facilitate plagiarism, cheating or other academic misconduct.
Check with your lecturer or institution if you are unsure whether a particular use of a resource is permitted.
Content and intellectual property
Unless otherwise stated, CRESA branding, original website design, editorial material, graphics and other original content are owned by CRESA or used with permission. Third-party names, logos, photographs, documents and other materials remain the property of their respective owners.
You may view and share links to public CRESA pages for personal, educational and non-commercial purposes, provided you do not misrepresent the source or remove relevant attribution. You must obtain permission where required before reproducing, adapting, publishing or commercially using protected material.
If you submit an article, photograph, resource or other content, you confirm that you have the right to submit it. You allow CRESA to review it and, where accepted, display it for the purpose explained by the relevant submission process. Submission does not transfer ownership to CRESA.
Events, site visits, payments and merchandise
Event details, attendance requirements, capacity, deadlines and charges will be set out in the relevant announcement or registration process. Places may be limited and registration may not be complete until any stated confirmation steps have been fulfilled.
Where an event, visit or merchandise item requires payment, rely only on payment instructions published or confirmed through an official CRESA channel. Check the amount, recipient, purpose and deadline before paying, and retain your payment confirmation. Do not send payment details or money to an unverified contact.
Refunds, cancellations, substitutions, collection arrangements and changes will be governed by the terms communicated for that specific event or order and by applicable law. Contact CRESA promptly if an issue arises. This page does not promise that every payment is refundable.
Conduct and prohibited use
Users are expected to communicate respectfully and avoid harassment, threats, discriminatory abuse, deliberate misinformation, impersonation, spam and unauthorised promotion. Do not post confidential information or personal details about another person without an appropriate basis or permission.
CRESA may review reports and take reasonable action in relation to content or activity that appears to breach these terms. Actions may include removing content, declining a submission, limiting access to a website feature or referring a matter to the appropriate University or other authority where warranted.
External links and third-party services
The website may link to services operated by other organisations, including forms, video platforms, file-hosting services, payment channels and professional bodies. Those services are operated independently and may have their own terms, privacy notices and availability limitations.
CRESA does not control every external service and is not responsible for changes to third-party content or systems. A link is provided for convenience and does not necessarily imply endorsement. Review the relevant provider’s terms before using its service or submitting information to it.
Privacy and data
When you use forms or other website features, CRESA may receive information you choose to provide, such as contact details, programme information, resource submissions or enquiries. Such information should be handled for the purposes communicated at the point of collection and in accordance with applicable data-protection requirements.
Do not submit sensitive or unnecessary personal information through a general enquiry or resource form. Where a third-party provider processes information through its service, that provider’s own privacy terms may also apply.
For questions about how information submitted through a CRESA website feature is handled, contact [email protected].
Information, availability and liability
CRESA aims to keep website information useful and up to date, but cannot guarantee that every page, link, resource or announcement will always be complete, accurate, uninterrupted or available. Details may change, and users should verify important dates, fees, eligibility requirements and instructions with the relevant official contact.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, the website and its content are provided without a guarantee that they will meet every user’s particular needs. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits a right or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
Users remain responsible for how they apply information obtained from the website. For formal academic, professional, legal or financial decisions, seek guidance from an appropriately qualified source where necessary.
Changes to these terms and contact
CRESA may update these terms to reflect changes to the website, services or applicable requirements. The revised version will be published on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the website after changes are published indicates acceptance of the revised terms, to the extent permitted by law.
If any provision is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue to apply to the extent possible. These terms are to be interpreted consistently with applicable laws of Kenya and any applicable University of Nairobi rules or policies. Any mandatory legal rights remain unaffected.
