"𝘈𝘐 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘳𝘦𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘤𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘴𝘦 𝘸𝘩𝘰 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸 𝘩𝘰𝘸 𝘵𝘰 𝘶𝘴𝘦 𝘪𝘵 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭!!"
This powerful message set the tone as CRESA had the privilege of hosting Mace YMR, a leader in the construction industry, for an inspiring career talk.

The session began with an in depth discussion with QS. Augustine Mawi who 𝘧𝘰𝘤𝘶𝘴𝘦𝘥 on Contract Administration and Management, exploring forms of contracts like FIDIC, JBC, PPOA, and IQSK labor contracts. We examined key documents such as Letters of Award, Contracts, BoQs, and Specifications while also learning about managing contracts in real projects.

Students were introduced to career opportunities in project management (planning, construction management) and the commercial sector (building surveying, procurement), broadening our view of paths in the built environment.

Wambui Maina, a BIM expert, emphasized how Building Information Modeling improves project efficiency when used thoughtfully, urging students to focus on understanding the required information from a project to determine the model to be used. Arthur Omondi encouraged learning tools like Cost X to strengthen BIM skills.

A consistent message throughout was clear: prioritize learning, authenticity, and volunteering before chasing money. The Mace team stressed the importance of giving factual information on skills possessed by students, investing in personal branding, and embracing continuous growth to create value. Students were also introduced to the Global Mentorship Programme by Mace, designed to mentor graduates and prepare them for professional success.

Arthur Omondi emphasized on the 4C's that lead them in Mace YMR:
Be 𝘊𝘶𝘳𝘪𝘰𝘶𝘴
Be a 𝘊𝘩𝘢𝘮𝘱𝘪𝘰𝘯
Be a 𝘊𝘰𝘭𝘭𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘰𝘳
Be a 𝘊𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘳𝘪𝘣𝘶𝘵𝘰𝘳

The session ended with a vibrant one-on-one networking opportunity where students gained deeper insights into real-world career experiences.

A huge thank you to the Mace YMR team for sharing their expertise and encouragement.

Remember, the future belongs to those who stay curious, stay authentic, and learn how to leverage tools like AI and BIM to drive change.
