The RICS Students themed 'πΎππ§ππππ§ ππͺππππ£ππ ππ£π πππ©π¬π€π§π ππ£π' was an eye-opening experience packed with inspiration, insight, and invaluable lessons for aspiring professionals in the built environment.
We kicked off with an empowering session by Mary Kaaria, who emphasized the diverse professions under RICS and the immense value of becoming a member. She highlighted the core pillars of Ethics, Integrity, Self-leadership, and Sound Financial Managementβessential traits for navigating the construction industry.
V. Gitonga then explored key forces shaping our industry today, from technology to global warming and economic shifts. Following this, Ryan Pape inspired us to adopt a global mindset, reminding us that βthe world is too small to burn bridges.β
The panel discussions were a true highlight, diving into:
π΅The career journeys of seasoned professionals and how their education continues to serve them.
π΅The value of continuous learning and pursuing certifications that align with our goals.
Remember: βNothing goes to waste if you allow yourself to learn!β as Nelly Njuki puts it.
π΅The power of networking, positive attitude, and a growth-first mindset.
As Grace Kanja wisely put it:
βStart where you can, but always aim higher.β
We walked away with strong reminders:
π‘Stay hungry, stay foolish.
π‘Itβs better to drink from a small stream than from a stagnant dam.
π‘If you can be trusted with little youcan be trusted with much!
Massive thanks to our amazing sponsors Axis Real Estate and Red Bull, the incredible speakers, organizers, and the RICS team for making this event a tremendous success.
